multicurrency.hk — Multi-currency policies in Hong Kong
multicurrency.hk is an independently run Hong Kong insurance information site edited by Policy Currency Notes Editorial. It covers one subject: how multi-currency savings policies issued in Hong Kong work. The scope includes what a policy currency is and how it is priced, the waiting period, frequency, application window and revaluation method of currency switch options, the rate and exchange differences between USD, HKD, RMB, GBP, EUR, AUD and CAD policies, how exchange-rate risk appears at premium payment, switch, surrender and claim, the Insurance Authority's illustration caps of 6.0% for HKD and 6.5% for non-HKD policies in force since 1 July 2025, the conditions for policy split and change of life insured, premium payment currency versus policy currency, and compliance notes for Mainland and cross-border families.
The site does not cover product recommendations or rankings, illustrated-return comparisons, cross-insurer fulfilment ratio comparisons, foreign-exchange execution advice, tax planning or investment advice, nor the details of investment-linked policies, premium financing or policy loans. Sources are limited to publicly verifiable documents: Insurance Authority guidelines, practice notes and circulars (some linked through the HKMA Banking Regulatory Document Repository), HKMA pages on the Linked Exchange Rate System and monetary statistics, public pages of the Inland Revenue Department and the Insurance Complaints Bureau, insurers' published brochures and web pages, and press reports marked as secondary. Every page carries an update date and sources; figures carry currency, date and origin, and where a figure cannot be verified the page describes the mechanism and defers to the latest official document.
The site is not an insurer, licensed insurance intermediary or bank, sells nothing, accepts no applications, makes no referrals and carries on no sales activity in Mainland China. Corrections and additional material can be sent through the site's message form.

Editorial principles
- We compile only public material from insurers, banks, regulators and official statistics, citing source and date per item; where the source is silent, we do not infer.
- We separate guaranteed from non-guaranteed, fact from opinion, regulation from practice; illustrations, back-tests and past performance do not indicate future results.
- We do not recommend products or promise returns, approvals or tax outcomes; personalised advice is the responsibility of licensed or exempt institutions and their appointed representatives.
- Cross-border content states the applicable jurisdiction; readers should obtain advice in their own jurisdiction.
- If you spot an error or outdated figure, tell us via the contact page; corrections are dated.
Editorial policy
Every article follows one process: define a single question, consult public documents from regulators, insurers and official statistics and record each source with its date, then have a second editor cross-check figures, terminology and the version of the rules cited. Pages are dated when updated. Guaranteed and non-guaranteed items, and facts and opinions, are labelled separately; nothing is inferred where sources are silent.
